Last updated: 13 July 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Akita website, software, firmware, and related services (collectively, the “Services”). By using the Services, you agree to these Terms.
1. Use of the Services
You may use the Services only in compliance with these Terms and all applicable laws. You are responsible for your account, your devices, and any activity that occurs under your deployment.
2. Home security & automation disclaimer
Akita provides tools for home monitoring and automation, including control of electrical appliances and equipment such as water motors. The Services are provided on a best-effort basis and must not be relied upon as a sole or life-safety system. AI detections (including person, face, fall, and motion detection) may produce false positives or miss events. You are responsible for safe electrical installation, complying with local regulations, and using appropriate protections (such as fuses, circuit breakers, and dry-run protection) for any connected equipment.
3. Accounts and security
You must provide accurate information and keep your credentials confidential. You are responsible for maintaining the security of any hardware on which you self-host Akita.
4. Acceptable use
- Do not use the Services to violate anyone's privacy or any applicable law.
- Only monitor property and spaces you own or are authorised to monitor.
- Do not attempt to disrupt, reverse engineer for malicious purposes, or gain unauthorised access to the Services.
5. Intellectual property
Akita and its licensors retain all rights, title, and interest in the Services, except for components explicitly released under an open-source license, which are governed by their respective license terms.
6. Third-party devices and services
The Services may interoperate with third-party cameras, hardware, and networks. We are not responsible for third-party products or their availability, and your use of them is subject to their own terms.
7. Warranty disclaimer
The Services are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, and non-infringement, to the maximum extent permitted by law.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Akita and its team shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, property, or profits, arising from your use of the Services.
9. Changes to the Services and Terms
We may modify the Services or these Terms at any time. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
